Canopy HortPark Singapore Review: Pretty Garden Café, But Are the Desserts Worth It?

Let’s be real for a second: my toxic trait is that if a café has hanging plants, rattan furniture, and floor-to-ceiling windows, I will immediately book a table. I am an absolute sucker for a pretty aesthetic. So, when my TikTok feed kept pushing videos of Canopy HortPark Singapore, I knew I had to go.

HortPark is Asia’s first integrated gardening lifestyle hub in Singapore, featuring over 10 themed gardens and a therapeutic garden. It is part of a 10-kilometre chain of greenery connecting several major hills and nature parks in Singapore. Canopy HortPark is a day dining restaurant surrounded by lush greenery, making it a scenic and relaxed spot for all-day dining. It also serves as a primary rest and refueling stop for those trekking the Southern Ridges trail. With a large seating capacity of up to 200 people, the restaurant accommodates both casual diners and larger social and corporate events.

I visited on a Sunday around 11:30 am, right in the middle of the weekend brunch rush. My main goal? To find out if this gorgeous day dining restaurant surrounded by lush greenery is actually worth the hype, or if it’s just another pretty spot with mid-tier food. More importantly, I wanted to see if the desserts could hold their own against the vibes.

Atmosphere at Canopy HortPark: Restaurant Surrounded by Lush Greenery

Walking into Canopy HortPark, the first thing you notice is the spaciousness. The indoor dining area is surrounded by glass, flooding the space with natural light and lush greenery that blends the outdoors with the inside. The decor evokes a Balinese resort vibe, with hanging cane lanterns and tropical plants creating a relaxing atmosphere.

I chose an indoor table but found the air conditioning quite strong—good to bring a light jacket. The high ceilings made the room echoey and loud during busy times. For a quieter experience, try the alfresco pet-friendly section, which offers comfortable seating enclosed by greenery and cooled by portable air conditioners.

Hort Park features unique gardens like the Silver Garden, Native Garden, and Edible Garden, plus a therapeutic garden designed to boost mental well-being. This makes Canopy HortPark more than just a restaurant—it's part of a larger nature and relaxation experience.

The Canopy HortPark Menu: Indulge in an Extensive Menu Including Brunch Items, Pastas, Burgers, and More

Assorted burgers and loaded fries on a table, with bowls of sauced food and ketchup sides

The Canopy HortPark menu including brunch items is huge, providing an extensive all-day dining menu that includes brunch items, pastas, burgers, pizzas, and mains. Since we were starving, we decided to split a heavy main before diving into the sweets.

We splurged on their famous Cold Angel Hair Pasta ($42++). When the plate arrived, the earthy, rich scent of white truffle oil hit me instantly. The cold capellini was tossed in a truffle-butter sauce and topped with sashimi scallops and bright, salty pops of ikura. The scallops were buttery and melted on my tongue, but honestly, the pasta itself was cooked just a fraction too soft for my liking. It’s a very pretty dish, but for $42, I wanted the flavors to punch a little harder.

Next, we tried the Crispy Chicken & Scrambled Eggs ($22). This was pure comfort. The scrambled eggs were unbelievably fluffy and buttery, and the chicken had this perfect, loud crunch when I bit into it. The toast was generously buttered and soaked up the leftover egg yolk beautifully. It’s a safe, reliable brunch pick that I’d absolutely order again.

We also sampled the Rosemary Chicken ($25++), served with a rosemary garlic sauce and buttery smooth mash. This dish really highlights Canopy HortPark’s focus on providing flavorful mains that stand out on their menu.

Dessert: Chocolate Lava Cake ($15)

But let’s talk about the dessert. We ordered the Chocolate Lava Cake ($15) with a side of vanilla ice cream. Visually, it looked incredible—a dark, powdered cake sitting next to a perfect scoop of vanilla. The cake was dense and warm, and the chocolate center was rich and gooey. The contrast of the freezing cold ice cream against the steaming hot chocolate was amazing. But the experience was slightly ruined by the service, which brings me to my next point.

Service Experience: Use Contact for Special Requests and Enjoy a Relaxed Time

The service here is definitely a mixed bag. When we arrived, the hostess was super friendly and seated us almost immediately.

However, when our Chocolate Lava Cake arrived, the server dropped it off without any cutlery. We tried to flag someone down, but the staff were so overwhelmed by the brunch rush that it took almost ten minutes to get a couple of spoons. By the time we took our first bite, the beautiful scoop of ice cream had completely melted into a sweet, milky puddle. It still tasted good, but it was a bit of a letdown.

To avoid such issues, it’s best to contact the restaurant ahead for any special requests or to follow up on your booking. The staff are generally helpful and accommodating when given advance notice. This makes the dining experience more comfortable and enjoyable for all diners.

Ideal Venue for Social and Corporate Events at Hort Park

Before you gather your friends and family and head over, here are the details:

Price

Expect to spend around $30–$35 per person for a standard brunch item and a coffee, or $50+ if you start ordering the premium mains like the cold pasta.

Timing

Canopy HortPark is open every day of the week, including Fridays, Sundays, and public holidays, with operating hours from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm. Sunday at 11:30 am is peak chaos. If you want a chill, relaxing experience, visit on a weekday afternoon or snag an early 9:00 am slot on the weekend.

Location

It’s located right inside Hort Park (33 Hyderabad Road). Parking is super easy with the park’s own lot, but if you’re taking public transport, prepare for a short, sweaty walk from the Alexandra Road bus stops.

Booking

Definitely make a reservation. Walk-ins on weekends are basically a gamble.

Pet-friendly

Canopy HortPark is pet-friendly, welcoming furry friends in the alfresco area, though it currently does not offer a specific menu for pets, which some visitors have noted as a potential improvement.

Social and Corporate Events

With seating for up to 200, Canopy HortPark is an ideal venue for social and corporate events, providing a comfortable and lush environment that helps guests relax and indulge in good food and company.

Final Verdict: Canopy HortPark Singapore is a Restaurant Surrounded by Lush Greenery Worth Visiting

So, is Canopy HortPark worth it?

Perfect for: Dog owners, families with strollers (the tables are wonderfully spaced out), and anyone looking for a gorgeous, Instagram-worthy brunch date. It's an ideal venue for social and corporate events, honestly.

Avoid if: You’re in a rush, or if you expect flawless, Michelin-level execution on every single dish. The service is intentionally slow-paced, and the food is more about comfort than culinary perfection.

Would I go back? Honestly, yes—but probably just for the crispy chicken and an iced coffee after a long walk in the park. Come for the lush greenery and brunch items, stay for the fluffy eggs, and maybe just eat your lava cake really, really fast.

Use the time to relax, indulge, and gather with friends, family, and furry friends in this beautiful garden dining spot surrounded by lush greenery at Hort Park, one of the charming singapore dessert shops.
